‘Art on the Wall at City Hall’ details public workers’ talents
MANCHESTER — City workers will be showing their artistic sides starting Friday, when the 7th annual “Art on the Wall at City Hall” exhibition opens.
Artwork by city and school district employees, as well as retirees, will be displayed in the gallery at City Hall and throughout the City Hall Annex.
The works are divided into three adult categories: amateur, intermediate and professional. There are two youth categories: 12 and under and teen. On July 26, an awards ceremony will be held at City Hall, with first, second and third place winners selected in each of the categories. The winners will be chosen by an independent panel of judges.
Prizes will also be awarded for Mayor’s Choice, Governor’s Choice and People’s Choice, with the public able to choose their favorites when visiting the exhibition.
The City Employee and Family Art Show is made possible by the National Arts Program, which sponsors municipal art shows across the country, providing prize money and support services to participating municipalities.
The public is invited to view the show during the hours that City Hall is open to the public (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday until 8 p.m.) The exhibition will be on display through Aug. 30.
