FairPoint expands broadband service
MANCHESTER — More New Hampshire residents can quickly e-mail photos, download music and surf the Internet now that FairPoint Communications has expanded broadband service to approximately 1,290 homes and businesses in the Lakes and Monadnock Regions and the town of Bartlett, the company said.
Since April 2008, FairPoint has invested more than $179 million in the communications infrastructure and technology to bring broadband to northern New England, including building more than 3,100 miles of new fiber across the region, the company said.
“Broadband access opens doors to the world for the residents and businesses in New Hampshire and is fundamental to the state’s future economic growth,” said Pat McHugh, FairPoint’s New Hampshire state president. “Our employees are working every day to build more broadband across the state. We are pleased to announce we have expanded the availability of high-speed Internet to these additional homes and businesses across New Hampshire.”
This expansion is part of FairPoint’s plan to increase broadband access to 95 percent of its service areas in New Hampshire by March 2013.
FairPoint high-speed Internet is available for the first time to 380 homes and businesses in the Lakes Region communities of Belmont, Laconia, Loudon, New Hampton and Meredith.
High-speed connection areas include portions of the following streets/roads in:
* Belmont/Laconia: Berkshire, Cardinal, Coon’s Point, Dove, Eagle, Gardner’s Cove, Jamestown, Minor, Murray, Park, Range, Robin, Siwicki, Union and Windsor.
* Loudon: Bumfagon, Gilmanton, Loudon Ridge and Rt. 16.
* Meredith/New Hampton: Andy, Apple Tree, Arbutus Hill, Blake, Campgound, Chase, Dolloff Brook, East Shore, Rt. 104, Shoreline, Twin Tamarack and Upper New Hampton.
FairPoint has expanded broadband service to approximately 470 homes and businesses in the towns of Walpole, Westmoreland, Marlborough and Sullivan. High-speed connection areas include portions of the following streets/roads in:
* Walpole: Carpenter Hill, County, Crehore, Merriam, Old Stage, Scovill, Watkins Hill and Whipple Hill.
* Westmoreland: Hurricane, London and Rt. 12.
* Marlborough: Collins, Jaffrey, Mountain, Old Dublin, Porter, Shaker Farm and Wallace Cross.
* Sullivan: Arlen, Boynton, Centre, Gilsum, Jenkins, Martin and Woodland.
FairPoint high-speed Internet is also available for the first time to 440 customers in the Bartlett area.
High-speed connection areas include portions of the following streets/roads in Bartlett: Chandler Mountain, Cross, Dundee, Emery, Hemlock, Moat Mountain, RidgeRue Chamonix, Thorn Hill, Town Hall, Waterfront, along with Allen, Attitash, Covered Bridge, Jericho, Marsden, Oak Ridge and White’s Ledge.
