MANCHESTER - Langdon Street, between Elm and Canal streets, is closed today as work crews repair a stretch of road that buckled when a 6-inch cast iron water main burst Sunday night.

The rushing water created a 15-by-25-foot sink hole, seven feet deep, according to Francis Stengr of the city's Water Works, and buckled the street just west of the Carol M.Rines Center, and east of Canal Street.

The pipe, more than 50 years old, was fixed by early Monday morning but Stengr said it will take most of the day to repair the street.
