MANCHESTER — City workers and family members were recognized at City Hall on Thursday night, but not for anything having to do with the wheels of government.

The seventh annual City Employee and Family Art Show features art creations from city workers and their families, retirees and school district employees.

Winner of Best in Show honor was Beverly Holtsberg of Manchester West High School for her “Spooky Moon” painting. Other top winners were Claudia Michael, Mayor’s Choice Award winner for her “Massabesic Triptich” painting; Samantha Tierney, People’s Choice Award also a winner in the 12 and under category, for her drawing “Splash of Color,” and Jeffrey Kramer, Governor’s Choice Award for “Mystic Path.”

Mayor Ted Gatsas credited Vicki Ferraro, his constituent services aide, with organizing the event, and said “it amazes me how many talented people we have in Manchester.”

Art pieces being exhibited in the show include paintings, drawings, crafts, jewelry, sculpture and mixed-media.

The show is sponsored by the National Arts Program, an organization that funds art shows in 450 local government buildings around the country. The group claims 450 exhibitis.

Artwork from city workers will be on display at City Hall through the end of August. The works are on display in the Art on the Wall at City Hall gallery and in the City Hall Annex.
