Fremont motorcyclist still in critical
RAYMOND — A Fremont man remained in critical condition in a Boston hospital Friday after being seriously injured in a motorcycle accident last weekend.
Dan Stewart, 42, suffered serious head and chest injuries in the accident around 7:30 p.m. Sunday on Essex Drive when the 2008 Yamaha motorcycle he was driving collided with another motorcycle, police said.
The second motorcycle — a 2010 Harley-Davidson — was operated by his friend, Scott Powers, 31, of Lyndeborough.
Stewart's wife, Rebecca, 37, was a passenger and was also injured.
Powers' wife, Heather, 33, was hurt as well.
Raymond police Lt. Michael Labell said the crash remains under investigation.
Jason Larochelle, a longtime friend of Dan Stewart's through the New Hampshire Army National Guard, said both couples had just left a restaurant and there was some miscommunication on where they were heading, resulting in the collision.
Rebecca Stewart suffered broken ribs and a broken collar bone, Larochelle said. Scott Powers received a broken leg.
Dan Stewart was the most seriously injured and was airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, a hospital spokesman said.
The others were brought to local hospitals with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Larochelle described the couples as avid motorcyclists.
“They ride together all the time,” he said.
