Fremont man arraigned on drug, other charges
A former Manchester resident accused of taking prescription drugs from a city residence where he was working was arraigned Thursday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division on a felony charge of possession of a prescription drug and a misdemeanor of theft by unauthorized taking,
Derrick McNutt, 25, of 31 Ann Lane, Fremont, was also arraigned on New Hampshire State Police charges of second-offense operating after suspension and solid line violation for his alleged behavior May 17 on Interstate 293 North.
Police prosecutor Steven Mangone requested $2,500 cash/surety bail on the Manchester charges for McNutt, who has a 2010 drug possession conviction and a 2009 disorderly conduct conviction.
McNutt was indicted by the July Hillsborough County North Grand Jury on a felony charge of reckless conduct and misdemeanor charges of subsequent offense operating after suspension, conduct after an accident and operating with a suspended registration.
Those charges stem from an incident March 16 on Hall Street when McNutt allegedly drove a truck into a car next to which a woman was standing, pinning her between the two vehicles. McNutt is accused of leaving the scene of an accident without providing the necessary information and of driving after his license and registration were suspended.
Judge Gregory Michael set bail at $5,000 personal recognizance on the city charges, with a probable cause hearing date of Aug. 16. Michael continued the $750 personal recognizance bail set by a bail commissioner on the state police charges. Trial on those charges was set for Oct. 22.
Dumbbell as weapon
Joseph Britton, 21, of 1602 Front St., who said he works under the table selling ice cream from a truck, pleaded innocent Thursday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division to three charges of criminal mischief.
Britton is accused of breaking a picture frame and a chair and putting holes in the wall of the Front Street residence with dumbbells.
Judge Gregory Michael told Britton that if he did that, he is the dumbbell.
Michael continued bail at $1,000 personal recognizance, with conditions barring Britton from contact with his father and barring him from the Front Street address. Trial was set for Nov. 7.
He's moved to Nashua
Daniel Chandonnet, 45, formerly of 907 Hayward St., pleaded innocent Thursday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division to misdemeanor charges of obstructing the report of a crime, simple assault and stalking, charges based on a May 27 incident in Manchester.
Chandonnet, who said he's moved to Nashua, told Judge Gregory Michael: “I was arrested on similar charges in June.”
Chandonnet said he has to report back to the Nashua court in 90 days on his progress in rehab.
Police prosecutor Steven Mangone requested $5,000 cash/surety bail on the Manchester charges, noting Chandonnet has several convictions for being a habitual offender, as well as for burglary, issuing bad checks and felony drug possession.
Mangone said he did not file a bail revocation motion because the bail conditions Chandonnet is accused of violating were set in the Nashua court, which may file a bail revocation motion.
Michael set bail at $1,500 cash/surety and a trial was set for Nov. 1.
