MANCHESTER — The University of New Hampshire at Manchester is taking over the first floor of the renovated Pandora Mill building in the Millyard at 88 Commercial Street.

UNH-Manchester is moving some classrooms and computer labs from 286 Commercial St. in time for classes to begin next Monday.

“We’ll be having greeters at the new building to welcome students and faculty as well as to answer any questions,” said Ginger Lever, spokeswoman for UNHM. “We’re very excited about the space. It’s such a historic building and a landmark in the city, and to offer our science and technology classes is very fitting.”

The university will occupy the first floor of the recently renovated historic mill building. Moving there will be faculty offices and classrooms for engineering technology and computing technology, graduate school programs, student common areas and study spaces. In its 22,000-square feet at the Pandora building, UNHM also will house the Small Business Development Center, which was previously in the abi Innovation Hub at 33 S. Commercial St.

The university plans to create an Emerging Technology Center, where students can collaborate with business partners to work on real-world projects, according to a press release.

Some classes will also move from 286 Commercial St. to 400 Commercial St., which houses UNH’s primary Manchester facility.

The admissions office will move to the Pandora building in several weeks, after the fall rush is over.

Don Clark, director of property management for 1850 Associates, which rehabbed the building, said five upper floors remain available for lease.
