MILFORD — The former president of the Milford Middle School Parent-Teacher Organization pleaded guilty to one count of theft from the PTO and has been ordered to continue making restitution while facing a suspended $1,000 fine.

Anne Marie Ulbin, 47, of 117 Purgatory Road in Milford was arrested in April after current PTO President Michael Sacco reported a series of discrepancies in the organization's books to the police.

Sacco, who became PTO president in August 2011, said that in December when the PTO treasurer was examining the group's bank account, she found a series of withdrawals that didn't have corresponding receipts or were for items not believed to have been used for PTO activities.

In total, $2,150 in the organization's funds could not be accounted for. When Sacco asked about the missing receipts, Ulbin agreed to bring in the missing paperwork. However, those receipts were never turned in so Sacco gave Ulbin a deadline of Dec. 1, 2011 to turn in the receipts or to reimburse the group for the unaccounted funds, but when that date came and went, he went to the police.

Ulbin, who has not been a member of the PTO for some time, was scheduled for trial on Monday, but Milford Police Prosecutor Michael McCall said that he reached a plea agreement with her which requires her to continue making restitution to the organization, which she has already been doing.

Ulbin also has been fined $1,000, but that fine has been suspended so long as Ulbin continues to pay her debt to the PTO and has good behavior.
