Former editor charged in child porn possession

WAKEFIELD - A former editor at the New Hampshire Union Leader has been charged with possession of child pornography.

Police said Edward C. Domaingue, 64, of Ormond Beach, Fla., a Wakefield summer resident, turned himself in to Wakefield Police on March 15 after learning he had a warrant out for his arrest for possession of child pornography. Domaingue was released on $10,000 personal recognizance bail. He is scheduled for arraignment April 17 in the 3rd Circuit Court, Ossipee District Division.

On Thursday, Wakefield Police Department Lt. Mark O'Brien said police launched a lengthy investigation in August of 2012 after receiving information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that the suspect allegedly possessed child pornography on his computer.

With that tip, Wakefield police teamed up with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force to investigate. O'Brien said the case remains under investigation and that additional charges may be forthcoming.

Domaingue retired in 2010 after working at the newspaper for 28 years.
