MANCHESTER - One woman was choked and a second was cut with a knife on her hand in a home invasion Wednesday night on Cedar Street.
Police went to 305 Cedar St. about 8:30 p.m. for a reported stabbing. Glenda Maysonet, 29, told them she was in her second-floor apartment with Silvana Gonell, 27, a friend visiting from the Bronx, N.Y., when there was a knock on the door and two men rushed inside.
One of the men put her in a choke hold, while demanding her money and pulling cash and two cellphones from her pockets.
The second man, who had a large hunting knife, confronted Gonell in a bedroom. Police said he punched her in the face and threatened to stab her. The woman was cut on her thumb when she put her hands up to shield herself from the knife the robber was pointing at her.
She later was taken by ambulance to the Elliot Hospital for treatment.
Police said Maysonet convinced the robbers she had more money in a car and they followed her outside, where she ran from them and yelled to neighbors to call police. The robbers ran off.
One of the robbers, the shorter of the two, is described as a heavyset black man in his mid-20s with short brown hair and a close beard. He wore a black, hooded sweatshirt, black pants and had a blue bandanna covering his dark-stained face.
The intruder with the knife was a taller, thinner white man with a chin-strap beard. He wore a ski hat or New York Yankees ball cap, a gray, hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and had a dark bandanna covering his face.
