Laconia pawn shop manager accused of buying stolen TV

WILLIAM TOPPING

LACONIA - A manager of a local pawn shop is under arrest, accused of fencing a large-screen television that was stolen in a burglary.

William Topping, 54, of 10 Moulton St., was arrested Tuesday and charged with receiving stolen property, a class B felony.

Topping, manager of Capital City Pawnbrokers in Laconia, purchased the television with the intent of reselling it even though he knew it was stolen, police said.

The television was taken in a Jan. 26 burglary in Laconia.

What's next: Topping is free on $5,000 personal recognizance bail pending a May 9 arraignment in 4th Circuit Court, Laconia District Division.
