Concord girl, 12, sings dazzling anthem

Tuesday was bitterly cold and blustery night in Boston, but Josey Murayda-Pelillo did her best to warm the crowd at Fenway Park. And her best was quite impressive.

The 12-year-old from Concord - who has been blind since birth - delivered a dazzling rendition of the national anthem prior to the evening's game between the Red Sox and the Oakland A's. While 42-degree temperatures prompted many of the players to wear ski masks that shielded their faces from the wind, and a misty rain kept much of the crowd away until after the first pitch, the talent evident in Murayda-Pelillo's performance made it sound as though conditions were practically ideal.

Her appearance was part of Disability Awareness Night at Fenway. According to the team, it collected submissions from people with disabilities who were interested in singing the Star Spangled Banner before the game, and from those choices the Red Sox selected Murayda-Pelillo as their singer.
