Expanded Lakes Region venue unveils new name, new slate of shows
The Gilford site, which this season debuts a $3 million upgrade and expansion, will host Mayer, along with opening act Philip Phillips of "American Idol" fame, in his first major tour in three years on Sunday, Aug. 18.
Known for tunes including "Your Body is a Wonderland" and "Waiting on the World to Change," Mayer had taken time off for vocal chord surgery and recovery before heading back into the studio and to world stages. Last year he released his fifth Columbia Record CD, "Born and Raised," which includes the single "Shadow Days." The Grammy-winning artist's previous discs include 2009's "Battle Studies," 2006's "Continuum" and 2001's "Room for Square."
Sharing Mayer's singer/songwriter mentality, Phillips, who was named champ of "American Idol's" 11th season, released his debut album, "The World From The Side Of The Moon" this past fall. Featuring the hit tune "Home," the CD has reached gold status in sales. His latest single is "Gone, Gone, Gone."
Tickets to the show range from $36 to $107.
Ke$ha, whose part-sung, part-rapped approach - along with a gleefully irreverent rocker stage persona - has made hits of tunes including "We R Who We R," "Die Young" and "Tik Tok," is scheduled to visit the Gilford venue Saturday, Aug. 31.
Ke$ha's latest projects include a forthcoming CD with The Flaming Lips called "Lipsha" and an MTV reality series called "Ke$ha: My Crazy Beautiful Life."
Tickets to the show range from $34.75 to $67.
The iconic KISS, with Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons joined by Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer, brings its flamboyant metal rock show and trademark facepaint to Meadowbrook on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
During its three-decades run, KISS has sold more than 100 million albums, making cult classics of tunes include "Detroit Rock City," "Rock and Roll All Nite" and "Shout It out Loud" and "Beth" along the way.
The band last year unveiled its 24th release, "Monster," which includes the tunes "Hell or Hallelujah" and "Long Way Down."
Tickets to the show range from $35.25 to $105 .
