'Faith in the Scientific Age' at Bedford church

REV. STEPHEN ROW

BEDFORD - Have you ever felt a disconnect between today's scientific age and your faith? Do you feel sometimes like your left brain is working when you watch NOVA and your right brain when you attend church?

Do you feel like you have to just park your brains outside when you enter a house of worship?

If you have had similar questions you may want to attend a forum and discussion, "Faith in the Scientific Age," at Bedford Presbyterian Church on Sunday, May 5.

The speaker will be Rev. Stephen Row, a Presbyterian minister and high school science and math teacher. A graduate of Harvard University and Princeton Theological Seminary, Rev. Row has made it a lifelong passion to find harmony between the two seemingly disparate worlds of science and religion.

"I've always loved science," says Row. "When I was a young child, my father and I used to sit on the front porch and gaze at the stars. Ever since then I have been awed by the wonder and beauty of the natural universe. I made up my mind to find out more about how this all happened."

When he entered college, Row intended to concentrate in theoretical physics. That changed as he began to experience a spiritual awakening.

As he pondered a decision to enter the ministry, Row was confronted with the dilemma between his newfound faith and his scientific curiosity.

The forum will begin 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, following a light luncheon at noon in the Bedford Presbyterian Church Parlor, 4 Church Road.
