WINDHAM - By simply looking good, members of the Windham High School community did their part Saturday night to bring better tomorrows for those coping with breast cancer.

Held in the high school auditorium, Saturday night's Styles and Smiles Fashion Show raised thousands of dollars for the cause while showing local audiences just what survival looks like.

According to science teacher Joe Mancinelli, the event was made possible almost entirely by students, who spent the past several months reaching out to area businesses, planning the finishing touches and spreading the word throughout the community.

Fifty student models, along with staff members, friends, relatives and survivors, donned fashions from The Gap, T.J. Maxx, Deb stores, Men's Wearhouse and Francesca's Collections, as well as handmade garments created by students in teacher Janet Robbins' textiles class.

Windham Center School fifth-graders Victoria InDelicato, Erin Morrow and Izzy Mearles got in the fun by showing off the dresses they made out of duct tape, while dancers from Hudson's Melissa Hoffman Dance Center entertained the crowd at intermission.

Artistic Creations Salon in Windham provided hair and makeup for the models, while Alpha Beats DJing handled the catwalk sound track.

Dozens of local businesses and volunteers donated goods and services for a bake sale and raffle to further assist the cause.

All proceeds of the event were donated to the Avon Breast Cancer Foundation through Team BellaDonna, a group of local women participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Boston May 18 and 19.
