Description: Buried behind Jaffrey's colonial Meeting House nearby are "Aunt" Hannah Davis, 1784 to 1863, resourceful and beloved spinster who made, trademarked, and sold this country's first wooden bandboxes; and Amos Fortune, 1710 to 1801, African born slave who purchased his freedom, established a tannery and left funds for the Jaffrey church and schools.
Location: Located in Jaffrey Center, on the south side of Route 124, about 2 miles east of its junction with Route 202. The Jaffrey Meeting House and Old Burying Ground are parts of the Jaffrey Center Historic District which was listed on the National Register in 1975.
