Origin:
Once part of Chester, it was known as Chester Woods, Chester West Parish, Long Meadow, and then Auburn. The name comes from English literature by Goldsmith, as did Auburns in New York, Massachusetts, and Maine. Auburn includes a large portion of Lake Massabesic, water supply for the City of Manchester.

More about Auburn:
For nature lovers, the trails around the Massabesic Audubon Society and Massabesic Lake offer miles of hiking, biking and bird watching opportunities. The lake itself allows boats without motors and picnickers are often seen enjoying an afternoon beside its calm waters dotted with sailboats.
