Origin:
First granted as Number 1 in 1735, this town was named New Amesbury, Jennesstown, Waterloo, and Ryetown before it was incorporated as Warner in 1774. It was named for a leading citizen and relative of Governor John Wentworth, Jonathan Warner. It was one of the last towns established under English province rule prior to the American Revolution. Warner includes the village of Davisville.
More about Warner:
Warner is a quaint little country village surrounded by mountains, ski areas and lakes. The town is located about 20 miles north of Concord. Warner has a rural atmosphere and still has the advantage of being in close proximity to a growing urban area. Its current population is around 2,500 people in an area 7 miles wide by 11 miles long.
There are two covered bridges in Warner, the Dalton Bridge and the Waterloo Bridge, both spanning the Warner River.
