Spaulding football promotes assistant

Jeff Hunt became Spaulding's fifth head coach in as many seasons when he was approved by the Rochester School Board on Thursday night. Hunt, 44, was an assistant coach under Claude Gagnon at Spaulding last season. Gagnon resigned in late April because of a family commitment.

Manchester West's boys were late after graduation, so Cameron Brownie and Reid Cote went head-to-head in the 100 meters with Brownie winning during the NH Decathlon and Heptathlon held at Nashua High School South on Saturday.

Salem High School preserved its uninterrupted streak as NHIAA volleyball champions with a three-sets-to-one win over fiesty Windham on Saturday night. Salem is now 124-1 as a varsity team. The Blue Devils have won every title since the NHIAA made boys' volleyball a varsity sport in 2004.

Practice for the second CHaD East-West All-Star Game will begin today at two locations: The East team will practice at Exeter High from 4:15 to 7:45 p.m.; and the West will hold its first workout at Manchester Memorial from 4:30 to 8:15 p.m. Practices are open to the public.
